To enroll in the special armed security guard card training and become a private security guard, applicants must:
 

• Be at least 18 years old.

• Be a citizen or resident alien of the U.S.

• To enroll in the 47-hour firearm training course, you must possess a valid NYS Pistol Permit and security guard registration.
